I love make-up. I really, really do. I love it, but am not a slave to it. I do not wear it everyday. I do not wear it every time I leave the house. I wrote about that the other day actually, and if you follow me on Instagram you may have seen the picture and what I said about the things I teach my daughter about makeup.
…What’s really funny about that is when she came home from school on the day I was doing my makeup for this post, she looked at me and said, ‘Mommy, why are you wearing makeup today?’ And I told her because I wanted to play. ‘Can I play too?’, she said. Sure!
I just love makeup. I love playing with it, and I love buying it. But I do not buy expensive make-up. I know that doesn’t come to a shock to you, if you know me and this website well enough. But it still needs to be said. I love going to the drugstore and looking around and seeing what’s new and buying a lot of different things to play around with. It’s just how I shop and live. And luckily these days we have a lot of inexpensive drugstore make-up options.
One of my all time favorite brands is Wet n Wild. I’ve been buying and wearing their products since I was able to do so. And they’ve really upped their game over the past few years. Their products are really amazing. So when I was challenged to do a full face using just their brand, showing the Plum Smokey Eye look that’s really big right now for Fall, I was sooo game. And now I get to share with you all what I did!
I already have so many of their products that I knew I could use, but I went to CVS and looked around to see what else I could get to help complete the look. And here’s what I came back with…
And here is what I used that I already owned…
So I’ll just take you through a quick, condensed, step by step guide to show you what I did for the eyes…
Line the upper and lower waterline with the same liner as well. Then go back over the black liner with more of the ‘crease’ shadow to make the color pop. Coat the upper and lower lashes with 2 coats of black mascara.
I used the bronzer under the cheekbones and around the perimeter of the forehead, the blush on the apples of the cheeks, and the shimmer as highlighter at the center of the forehead, down the bridge of the nose, above the cheekbones and at the crevice of the chin. Then used only that gloss on the lips.
And don’t forget about the nails! I got compliments on my nails all day… this ‘wet cement’ is an awesome color for Fall!
I had such a fun time getting to play around with one of my favorite brands from childhood. My husband and I went out to dinner that night (a much, much needed and long overdue date-night) and so many people asked me about my eye makeup…
And one of the best and most surprising parts about it is I applied the makeup earlier in the morning and it lasted all day. Not one bit of touchup was required – even on the water line and at the outer corners of the eyes where liner usually fades or starts traveling south. I haven’t had a liner stay that well ever. And it was $5!!!!! The entire bill for the makeup you saw above, (including 3 Wet n Wild lipsticks not pictured that I’ll be using for a different post) cost me only $28.
So being able to tell those people complimenting my makeup that it was all Wet n Wild, and then watching the surprised look on their faces was just priceless.
You just don’t have to spend a lot of money to look and feel good. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Make-up and Fashion are things we get to play around with. So stop taking it so seriously and have a little more fun with it.
Thanks Wet n Wild for letting me play!
