Champagne Jigglers

Remember Jello jigglers? Man, I wanted those when I was little, but we only got to make the regular jello. (sigh) Something about being able to hold up my jello and shake it about sounded like enormous amounts of fun to me. Why don’t we play with our food as adults? When did that end? I’d like to bring that back. An easy way to make an adult play with their food is to put booze in it, right? A little bit of booze can bring out the kid in all of us, I suppose!
I’m catering a bridal affair over the weekend and I thought that the perfect little treat for the ladies would be some Champagne jigglers. Doesn’t that sound awesome? If you don’t care for alcohol, using a sparkling white grape juice would be great too. They were a cinch to make and really, really pretty to look at. And according to my husband, who has to be my booze taster for quality control purposes these days, they were really, really delicious also. Here’s what I did…

In a large, glass bowl dissolve 4 packets of unflavored, plain gelatin into 2 1/2 cups of Champagne, Prosecco, Cava or Domestic Sparkling Wine. Stir well until all the gelatin has dissolved. Meanwhile, heat 1 1/2 cups of White Grape Juice in a glass container in the microwave until very hot, but not boiling yet. Pour the hot juice into the gelatin/champagne mixture and stir well. Pour this into a 9*13in glass container lightly sprayed with cooking spray. Refrigerate for at least 5 hours. You’ll know that your gelatin has completely set when you shake the pan and it no longer moves…or jiggles.

When it’s ready, cut into squares or use a cookie cutter to make shapes like I did. The shapes are easy to remove once you’ve cut them by sticking your finger into the container and popping out each shape individually.

I had to take a shot of the container once I popped out all the pieces because it was too cool to look at. Also, this was my husband’s little treat 🙂

(*For a really pretty pink version, use a Sparkling Rose)

Wow…Abbey! You are actually catering to bridal affair? That's a serious business! Having this in that event also seems appropriate. So simple and yet so glamourous. I associate champagne with glamour. LOL
