When I was little I used to sit on the floor and watch my mother put on makeup before her dates with my dad. I could sit there and watch her for hours. That’s how I learned to put on makeup… by watching my mommy. It was so mesmerizing to me. Calming. Soothing. I was simply fascinated by it.
I spent a lot of my young school years putting makeup on friends. I loved it. Before my husband and I were married, we started a photography business, and I was the makeup artist to his photographer. Watching the looks on these girl’s (and boy’s) faces after they saw what I did was so special. I don’t make people look like someone else. I don’t do crazy strobing or contouring… I don’t do false lashes (no offense)… I don’t do weird tricks only the experts know… I don’t use expensive, high-end products… I use my hands, a few brushes, and things we all can get down the road. I just bring out what beauty is already there… and maybe add a little fun and drama 😉
I have a daughter now and she sits behind me and watches me put on makeup sometimes. It always makes me smile. She isn’t in it this video… but my son and husband found their way in it…

Either way, this is my go-to date night face. I love a smokey eye, dewy skin, and a shimmery lip. I think it’s pretty universal. It’s my husband’s favorite, it’s my favorite, and it’s always guaranteed to make me feel… saucy?
