Mediterranean Margarita

Heeey! So it’s been a minute. Hope you’re well. All good here, just continuing role of headless chicken. I have a lot in the backfiles to share with y’all, it’s just a matter of time on my part. And by time, I mean finding any.

So I’ve been thinking and I think I need another me. Like, we me’s could get so much shit done. And me and other me could communicate super well, because, well, I know my buttons and triggers and motivators. What I think me and other me would do is first get on opposite sleep schedules so she’s tackling all the thinking and creating and computer work while this me is sleeping (much better sleep would happen because both me’s wouldn’t have as much stress about what hasn’t gotten done yet) and then when this me wakes up, I’ll do all the physical stuff and on site job stuff and probably get some social life in there too, yeah?

I’m really into this idea. Both of us are.

Anywho here’s a cool new marg recipe I wrote for you. And also me. And other me.

I love classic margaritas… I mean, who doesn’t? And I like them 1:1 / tequila : orange liqueur. With a lot of lime. No simple syrup. No salt (we bloat like a mutha). Shaken. Over ice. Done.

But I also love variations on that, as long as they’re not froofy fruity bombs. Then it came to me that I could use campari in a margarita, because it has the citrus notes, plus all that herby beauty, and it’s not too sweet… then I was all, hey- that’s heading into Italian territory and we straight up just left Mexico… let’s see where else we can go! And then it hit me. Let’s knock on Spain, ya’ll! So I added some sherry to my brain shaker.

And what we have is one super fly drink that I can’t wait for you to try. It’s unique and fun and has some sweet umami (sweet as in ‘cool’, ‘fly’, ‘hip’, if you will, not sugary sweet), and I just love the hell out of it. I know some people are all, ‘ew, sherry. isn’t that for grandmas?’. And I’m all, ‘pssht. stop hatin’ on grandma.’ ‘But also, sherry rocks so shush your face hole’. It has this amazing nutty character to it that adds such a depth of flavor… especially if you splurge for the good stuff.

So whip out that shaker, mix you up something new and snazzy and have yourself a Friday, sassypants.

Mediterranean Margarita

recipe for 1. but let’s not let that get in the way

In a cocktail shaker, add the following:

  • 2 ounces tequila (I prefer blanco for margaritas, save the aged stuff for sippin’)
  • 2 ounces Campari
  • 1 ounce dry sherry
  • The juice of 1 large lemon (or if you get yours in the bags and they’re super tiny, let’s go with 2)

Add ice.

Shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake your sherry.

Pour in your preferred glass (I go low ball) over lotsa ice.

Garnish with more lemon if you wanna.

Sip and savour.

Love you bye thanks for reading you beautiful sonsabeaches xo
